Welcome to Free Agency Baltimore

My sports fandom is all messed up. I was a weird kid and picked teams based on the colors I liked. Therefore, the NFL team I root for is the Baltimore Ravens. If you’ve been paying any attention to free agency, you may have noticed the dismantling of the leagues BEST defense last year. C.J Mosley, Za’Darius Smith, Eric Weddle and most importantly, Terrell Suggs are all gone. To make things worse, the Cleveland Browns (yes the browns. Still doesn’t feel real) traded for Odell Beckham Jr. yesterday evening. Going to bed last night was not a great feeling being a Ravens fan.

But boy does a good nights sleep makes a difference or what. Eric Decosta opened up the wallet and totally redeemed himself. What a great feeling it was seeing these tweets back to back.

Who’s Eric Weddle? We don’t need him. Earl Thomas fills a much needed hole in the Ravens defense. People forget how good this guy really is. That may be due to him flipping off coaches and making headlines last year with off the field comments, but I certainly haven’t forgotten. An absolute ballhawk that plays a lot like Raven great Ed Reed. I’m not sure the Ravens were particularly in on the Thomas sweepstakes until the Browns created this super offense but I’m already having flashes of the matchup. Who would’ve thought the Browns and Ravens would be must watch TV next year? Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield ooze swag, but now you have difference makers on both sides of the ball that creates an even more compelling matchup.

And oh yeah Mark Ingram’s not too bad either. I mean, he’s only rushed for 15 redone touchdowns the last two years alone… Ingram is a perfect scheme fit for Greg Roman’s offense and the type of piece you want to put around Lamar Jackson to make him effective. If an undrafted free agent like Gus Edwards has success in Roman’s system, I can only imagine what Ingram will bring to the table. Now all we have to do is find and edge rusher and draft A.J Brown in this years NFL Draft. If they do that, the Ravens are back!
