Viva Las Vegas Babyyyy...

In case you have been living under a rock the last few days, Press Box took their talents to Vegas for the first four days of March Madness. The group consisted of myself and Dom of course, we also were with the man behind the scenes Mike Panico, Stat Guy Nick Grandolfo, and our first podcast guest and great friend Zak Kucera. This was our second year as a crew taking on Vegas during the first weekend of the tournament.

The post vacation blues are relatable to anyone. From the moment you book any sort of vacation months in advance you spend so much time thinking about and getting excited for the trip leading up to it. Let's say you book it 6 months in advance. You have roughly 182 days before that trip and at some point in each and every one of those 182 days you have some sort of thought about that trip and what is to come. Well, in our case we had 367 days. From the moment we touched down back in Chicago last year on Sunday March 18th 2018, us five had our sights set on Wednesday March 20th 2019. Clocking in at just over a year with 367 days in between trips. As soon as we got back we knew we were all heading back next year. So we waited a whole 367 days just for four days in that year and it was gone in the snap of a finger. Man was it tough to get up this morning without hearing the sound of a slot machine.

We had a fun golf match that we obviously had been hyping up if you had been following along. Some how both teams found a way to win. Boooooooooooo. The teams were Dom & I against Mike & Nick (Zak hadn't arrived yet). Dom and I won the scramble on hole 16, easy money. And then on the 17th tee box Mike & Nick approached us trying to win some money back. They proposed that we play the last two holes fro $200, Dom & I had already won $300 on the scramble. So playing with house money Dom and I agreed to the proposal to make things fun for the last two. We pushed 17 meaning hole 18 was potentially a $200 hole one way or another or just another push. Both teams got off the tee well and were sitting about 110 yards out. Dom and I go just off the green and then Mike decides to be a hero and CHIP IN FROM 110 YARDS OUT TO WIN THE HOLE. Boom just like that the winds were taken out of Dom and I. Although we "won" it didn't really feel that way given the dramatics of the situation. It was tough nonetheless.

Gambling was pretty even. We are up a little so far through the four days in large part due to hitting 3 of our 4 underdog money line plays the first two days. And then we ended the weekend yesterday going 4-2-1. The lines got reaaaaaaaaal tight on Saturday and Sunday and they will only continue to tighten up the rest of the tournament as it has been rather chalky straight up winners. So continue to stay on top on our posted plays starting again on Thursday for the Sweet 16 and the Elite Eight this weekend.

All-in-all, what makes the post vacation blues so tough is just how much fun we had on the trip. Filled with winners and losers, bad beats and great wins. A massage and a few trips to the spa to replenish the mind and body with winners in the steam room, hot tub, and sauna. But most importantly there was a plethora of great laughs, unforgettable memories, awesome food complimented with great wine and cold beer. What more can you ask for?

Even if you don't gamble or really care about March Madness. Male, female, old, or young. Vegas during the first four days of the NCAA Tournament is a bucket list trip for anybody with a pulse. It is a scene you can't manufacture anywhere else. Vegas is Vegas for a reason.
