This has been quite a fun playoffs so far. But what makes watching these games even better is betting them, so let's get down to business. The one game on the slate tonight:
Raptors (-1.5) vs. Sixers 7 p.m. CT ESPN
Total: 217
Moneyline: -122
This line opened up the other day as the Sixers -1.5 and it quickly moved to the Raptors laying -1.5. You have herd me and Dom say many times that often times lines and line movements can tell you exactly how you should be betting a game and this game follows suit.
The Raptors are a great team. They are incredibly deep, I mean we got Serge Ibaka as like their 8th or 9th man! They play phenomenal defense, and they make shots. Kawhi Leonard has taken his game to another level in these playoffs and he has been aided by his running mate Pascal Siakam (23 ppg-8 rpg in the playoffs). Siakam's play has largely made up for the lack of Kyle Lowry in this playoffs but Lowry is still there and primed to break out. Toronto is 18-7 straight up after a loss this season and they were the third best team in the league on the road this year, going 28-15 straight up. I like the Raptors spot tonight. Also, the last 21 playoff games where there was a road favorite have gone 15-6 straight up.
I am not a huge fan of this Sixers team. There was a time just months ago where I thought they were the best team in the East but I have quickly changed tune. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are the top two players for the Sixers, and talented players certainly, but they can't shoot. As we know Ben Simmons just doesn't shoot threes and Joel Embiid does and, well, that is the exact issue. Embiid also hasn't really been healthy at all in the playoffs and doesn't seem near 100% . The Sixers of course have Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris but Harris has struggled so far against the Raptors defense (averaging 11 ppg through two games). Hats off to JB though, he has been a bucket.
At the end of the day, I think the Raptors are simply just the better team. They had no business even making game two close like they did and I think they head to the Wells Fargo Center tonight and they take care of business.
To be honest, I am going to pay the extra juice on the moneyline and not have to stress the points. -1.5 is -110 and the moneyline is -122, so personally I think its worth it to just take them on the ML tonight and watch them work.
Pick: Raptors -122
Bonus Pick tonight:
NHL: Bruins/Blue Jackets 1p Over 1.5 (+100)
