Bryce Harper Gets His Revenge

When he was just 19, Bryce Harper played his first professional baseball game as a Washington National. That was seven years ago. Feel old? Well, after falling short of their season goals year after year, Harper and the Nationals were put in a situation that some tough decisions had to be made. To pay or not to pay… Long story short, Bryce Harper joined a new team this offseason. He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies’ who just happen to be in the same division as his former Nationals. With that being said, last night was Harper’s first game back at National’s Park and after a great career in the city of Washington D.C., the fans were filled with emotion last night.

Booing? Really? Talk about a waste of seven years giving the National’s fanbase something to cheer about. So as you can imagine when Harper got his first opportunity to quiet the stadium, he would surely get his revenge right?

Oh no… not a strikeout with two men on! This isn’t how these stories usually go. In the movies the hometown kid always comes back and makes the fans pay for talking shit to him. Well in this case, we just needed a little patience. (Could you imagine being the Nationals social media guy and posting this? He probably had this Fresh-Prince of Bel Air joke ready from the minute Harper signed with the Phillies. He was probably so proud of himself for this one.)

After getting booed in his tribute video, and heckled all night in right field, Harper got his revenge. He sent a baseball to the moon. Never seen anything like it before. In the top of the 8th inning, Harper hit a 458 foot bomb to right field where National fans had praised him for the last seven seasons. Here’s the moonshot in all its glory. (Peep the bat flip too.)

Bryce Harper officially owns the Washington Nationals.
